Author Guidelines
How to prepare a manuscript for JCRTP, from structure and formatting to declarations and submission.
These guidelines explain how to prepare a manuscript for JCRTP. Submissions are made online through the journal's submission system; the Submissions page lists the preparation checklist, section policies and copyright notice you confirm when submitting.
Before you submit
- Check that the work fits the Focus & Scope and is original, not published or under consideration elsewhere.
- Make sure all authors have read and approved the manuscript and agree to its submission.
- Prepare the ethics approval, consent, funding and conflict-of-interest information described below.
- Read the journal's Publication Ethics policy.
Article types
JCRTP considers original research articles, review articles, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, case reports, clinical studies, short communications and scholarly perspectives in cancer research and care. Choose the matching section when you submit.
Manuscript preparation
- Write in clear English, and have the text checked for language before submission if needed.
- Keep the manuscript concise and appropriate to the article type.
- Use consistent headings, number all pages, define abbreviations at first use and use standard units.
- Use generic drug names and approved gene and protein nomenclature.
Article structure
- Title: concise and informative.
- Author information: full names, affiliations and the corresponding author's e-mail address.
- Abstract: a summary of the purpose, methods, main findings and conclusions.
- Keywords: terms that help readers find the article.
- Main text: for original research, normally Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, ending with Conclusions; reviews and case reports use headings suited to their content.
- Declarations: ethics approval and consent, funding, conflicts of interest and author contributions.
- Acknowledgements, where applicable.
- References.
Systematic reviews and meta-analyses should follow recognised reporting standards and describe their search strategy, eligibility criteria and methods of synthesis.
Figures and tables
- Number figures and tables consecutively and cite each one in the text.
- Give every figure and table a clear title or legend that explains abbreviations and symbols.
- Supply figures with enough resolution to be read clearly; do not alter images in ways that change their meaning.
- Obtain permission for material reproduced from other sources and state the source.
References
Cite all sources accurately, consistently and completely, and check every reference against the original publication. Include identifiers such as DOIs where available, and make sure each in-text citation appears in the reference list.
Ethics declarations
- Ethics approval: name the approving committee and reference number for research involving people, human data or tissue, or animals.
- Consent: confirm informed consent where applicable, including consent for publication in case reports.
- Funding: list all sources of funding, or state that there was none.
- Conflicts of interest: declare any competing interests, or state "none".
